When visiting someone's home, the host is to walk guests out to the bus station or taxi stand or give them a ride home. Leaving them alone is rude.

 

It is rude to pass food with the left hand.

 

Friends of the same gender hold hands.

 

It is impolite to show affection in public, other than holding hands.

 

Asking about one's health after greeting them is polite.

Greetings & Gestures

The Locals

Male friends greeting each other shake hands and when releasing hands they grasp the other person's middle finger with their thumb and then release with a snapping noise.

Curling your fingers and moving your hand palm out means “come here”.

​

It is polite to always greet someone.

The locals in Ghana are very warm and friendly. There are some important customs and greeting you should observe while you are there.
